To ensure you have the smoothest and fastest experience while working with complex spatial data and AI-native operations, it is important to configure your web browser correctly. This guide outlines the recommended browser settings, performance optimizations, and necessary permissions required to get the most out of the platform.

Enabling Location Access
When you first log into GriidAi and open your workspace, the platform will request permission to access your current location. We strongly recommend allowing this access.
Why does GriidAi need my location? By knowing your general location, the platform can automatically center your map views and immediately load the specific geographic region you are working in. This saves you from having to manually zoom and pan across the globe every time you start a new session.
- How to grant Location Access:
- Watch for the Prompt: Upon loading the dashboard for the first time, your browser will display a small popup near the top-left of the URL bar asking: 'pre-prod-app.griidai.com wants to know your location.'
- Click Allow: Click the Allow button in that popup to grant temporary access.
- If you accidentally blocked it: Do not worry! You can fix this easily. Look for the small Lock Icon (or settings icon) located directly inside your browser's URL address bar, right next to the https:// prefix. Click that lock icon, find the Location setting in the dropdown menu, and change the toggle from 'Block' to 'Allow'. Refresh your page to apply the changes.
Because spatial engineering often involves rendering millions of data points, polygons, and high-resolution raster layers simultaneously, your browser needs to utilize your computer's graphics card (GPU).
Ensuring Hardware Acceleration is Enabled (Google Chrome Example):
- Open your browser settings by clicking the three vertical dots in the top-right corner of Chrome, then select Settings.
- In the left-hand menu, click on System.
- Look for the toggle labelled 'Use graphics acceleration when available'.
- Ensure this toggle is turned ON (it should be highlighted blue).
- If you had to turn it on just now, you would need to click the Relaunch button to restart your browser and apply the performance boost.
General Optimization Tips
If you ever find that your maps are loading slowly or the platform feels sluggish, try these quick optimization steps:
- Clear Your Cache: Web browsers store temporary files that can sometimes become corrupted or outdated. Clearing your browsing data (specifically 'Cached images and files') from your browser's history settings can often resolve sudden performance drops.
- Close Unused Tabs: Browsers consume significant amounts of your computer's RAM. Closing other heavy websites or unused tabs will free up memory specifically for GriidAi's rendering engine.
